The "Star FM" Pioneers have been defeated by the Ballarat Miners tonight at the WIN Minerdome. The Pioneers lead up to the beginning of the final period when the Miners surged ahead whilst the visitors could only manage 12 points at 17% from the field for the quarter.

South Dragon and Miners' Coach Matt Shanahan was virtually unstoppable for the home side with 33 points but he was also supported by Anthony Susnjara with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Brett Goodgame and Ricky Daniel's also made valuable contributions for the Miners in their second win for the season. The Miners travel to Brisbane to take on the in-form Southern Districts on Saturday night.

Pioneers import Ryan Blankson controlled the bulk of the scoring with 23 whilst Jon Shepherd added 19 and Dallas Jeffree 15.

The win places additional pressure on the Pioneers as the Miners along with Kilsyth continue to move closer towards the Pioneers 3 wins. Another South Dragon, South Australian Joe Ingles is also rumoured to Join Ballarat and if so will aid in their push for the Conference top 4.

The Pioneers will get their chance at revenge in a fortnight when the Pioneers host the Miners at the icehouse.

The Pioneers next home game is on the 4th May against the Canberra Gunners - BE THERE & BE LOUD!
