PIONEERS RETURN EMPTY HANDED

The "Star FM" Pioneers Road Double in the ACT saw no success as the team returned with a 0-2 weekend record following a big loss on the hands of the talented Canberra Gunners.

On Friday night at the AIS Training Hall a slow start cost the Pioneers trailing by 20 at the end of the first period. Ryan Blankson was in top form scoring 25 points and reeling in 21 rebounds (14 Offensive) in the four point loss to the Instituite. All Pioneers players contributed down the stretch to pull the game back into contention. Andrew Ogilvy lead the AIS with 28 points. The Home team were without Shannon Seebohm for the match due to injury.

Canberra are always a tough and this time it was Paul Denmann who did most of the damage to the Pioneers in providing 30 points for the Gunners. New West Sydney Razorbacks recruit Anthony Petrie also added 18. Pioneers import Ryan Blankson was impressive again adding 20 points and 19 boards, this time 10 offensive. The final result, Canberra 127 defeated Mt Gambier 76.

The Pioneers next home game is on the 6th April against the Kilsyth Cobras. This isn't just any game, it's the clubs 500th in the SEABL - BE THERE & BE LOUD!
