PIONEERS DOWNED BY BLUES AT HOME

An under-manned "Star FM" Pioneers outfit has suffered an 115-85 loss at the IceHouse Friday night to the Frankston Blues. Former Pioneer, Bart Strzebonski was in top form for the visitors showcasing his amazing speed and scoring ability. Marcus Timmons, David Gruber and Andrew Harms were also very impressive for the Blues.

Chris Lewis was again out for the Pioneers with his arm injury and
Jon Shepherd was sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained  during the week in practice.

Dallas Jeffree lead the Pioneers with 33 points and Ryan Blankson totalled 31 in a game where the Pioneers kept with their opponent for 3 quarters. Unfortunately in the last the Pioneers tired due to a diminished roster and eventually went down by 30.

Chris Mason continued his solid recent form for the Pioneers being awarded with the game night MVP award and Dallas Jeffree received the Captain's award. Daniel Wilson also contributed well playing additional minutes in his starting role.

Sean Irvine and Tom Kosch again made appearances in the closing minutes of the game providing some entertainment for the home crowd.

The word "crucial" under estimates the Pioneers Round 19 road double in the Apple Isle. After jumping into the Conference top 4 this week, a less than impressive result may see the teams playoffs hopes vastly diminished whilst wins would continue the heat on a third place finish.

The "Star FM" Pioneers are back at home on the 13th July, hosting the Bendigo Braves and another former Pioneer in Sam Fotu. The Braves are leading the South and the game will be on the Eve of the 20th Anniversary Celebration and these two reasons make for a huge game.

Get out to the IceHouse and cheer on YOUR "Star FM" Pioneers - BE THERE & BE LOUD!
