The "Star FM" Pioneers have
been handed a severe "touch-up" at the hands of league
leaders Geelong, after a confidence boosting win at home on
Friday night over Albury. The Pioneers lead all night Friday
and took the game by 11 points. On Saturday night however,
the talented and very deep Supercats punished the visitors
on route to a 148-93 victory at the Arena.
Ryan Blankson top scored with 27 points and was well
assisted by Chris Lewis, Dallas Jeffree and Jon Shepherd
whilst Nick Payne was the main attraction for the
Albury/Wodonga Bandits. NBL star Brad Sheridan was not in
uniform for the Bandits.
Dallas Jeffree showed a great
deal of heart over the weekend, especially in Geelong where
he fought hard until the final buzzer totalling 32 points, 7
rebounds and 6 assists. Jon Shepherd also had 20 however of
Geelong 12 man roster all scored, 7 in double digits. Jason
Reardon had 27 points for the Supercats.
There is no doubt the Pioneers will keen to forget about
this game however it will not be the last time these teams
meet. On June 15th the Pioneers host Geelong, who are yet to
drop a game since the the end of the regular season 2006.
The "Star FM" Pioneers are back at home Friday night,
hosting the North West Tasmania Thunder. Again, It's a must
win game for the Pioneers - BE THERE & BE LOUD!
