PIONEERS GET WIN OVER BALLARAT AT ICEHOUSE.

The "Star FM" Pioneers have completed there 4th win in the 2007 SEABL season with a tough win over the Ballarat Miners at the IceHouse Friday night.

After a big loss at the hands of Canberra the week before, the Pioneers started quickly racing to a 13 point lead at the end of the first period. Chris Lewis totalled 10 points and rebounded strongly in this period before finishing the game with tallies of 18 points and 18 rebounds.

Jon Shepherd was perhaps most impressive for the Pioneers, coming off the bench and providing 27 points in 32 minutes of action. Dallas Jeffree returned to his usual form also  chipping in with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in a strong performance.

Import Ryan Blankson also continued his consistent play with 19 points and 13 rebounds despite the tough task of guarding SEABL veteran Ricky Daniels who lead the Miners with 22 points.

Luckily for the Pioneers, Miners coach Matt Shanahan did not provide the output seen in Round 11 only managing 14 points. Anthony Susnjara and Brett Goodgame also left the game early registering 6 fouls in the outing.

It was pleasing that after the break, despite the strong scoring runs and pressure of the Miners, the home team was able to remain composed and deliver with the win.

Miner's still in the doldrums - 12th May 2007 (Ballarat Courier)

The Pioneers next home game is on the 25th May against the Albury/Wodonga Bandits - BE THERE & BE LOUD!
