MEDIA RELEASE: PIONEERS ANNOUNCE HEAD COACH FOR 2008
 

The Scott's of Mount Gambier Pioneers mid season struggle has continued with a loss to the Bendigo Braves by 11 at the IceHouse in their first Saturday night home game for 2008.

Starting slowly and not gaining much pace until the final period, the Pioneers showed that it will take four periods of basketball per game to return increase their "W" column. Dallas Jeffree has continued his season, providing another passionate effort, the Pioneers need their complete depth to provide the want that Jeffree provides week in week out. The Pioneers are still without Kurt Russell who is in recovery from injury.

After providing 9 in the first quarter, Glen Barlow provided his season high points with 19, Jim Cochran had 17 and Jason Sedlock had 15 without the same impact fans witnessed over the seasons first two months. Tristan Parham provided his worst performance for 2008, being charged with six fouls and not providing any scoring output in his 26 minutes of action. Jeffree was the Pioneers best with 28.

The Braves, like the Pioneers have not enjoyed tremendous success so far this season and new import Dustin Bremmerman provided one of his more favourable performances with 22 points. Former NBL player and regular SEABL participant Cam Rigby once again displayed his ability to get the job done. Former Pioneer Chris Novak was once again in uniform for Bendigo adding 14.

After a handful of losses in recent weeks, the Pioneers will be very keen to bounce back and reconstruct their season at home this Friday against the Southern Districts Spartans. The Pioneers have never defeated the Brisbane based team since their inception last season.
