MEDIA RELEASE: MIXED FORTUNE ON ROAD.

The Pioneers mixed fortunes of the 2008 SEABL season continued over the weekend with a split result, defeating Albury/Wodonga on Friday night before to Nunawading on Sunday afternoon.

Despite the fact Albury Wodonga are currently the lowest ranked ball club in the SEABL they are never an easy opponent at the "hide-out", Andrew Rice and Ryan Kersten have lead the team so far this season and Saturday was no different with 27 and 17 points respectively. Jim Cochran provided his most impressive performance for the season with 33 points for the Pioneers and Dallas Jeffree continued his stellar season with 30 of his own.

The final margin was 5 points, 94-89 in what was very much a confidence boosting win for the Pioneers who have struggled in recent weeks.

Despite a more balanced team effort on Sunday, the Pioneers struggled in the clutch eventually going down by 10 to the Nunawading Spectres. Dallas Jeffree again lead the Pioneers with 28 points, Jason Sedlock added 22 and Jim Cochran had 15 rounding out a solid weekend. Michael Thorp was the Spectres best with 27 and Singapore Slinger, Shane McDonald had 24.

The Pioneers now turn to a repeat match-up, this time at the IceHouse Friday night against the Nunawading Spectres. The Pioneers will be keen to get some much needed revenge and increase their "W" column in the lead up to the SEABL finals series.
