PIONEERS IN 2008
We plan to celebrate
2008 in many ways, but most importantly with a
successful ON-COURT performance throughout the
season. Combine that with a variety of OFF-COURT
functions, things will be set for great times in
2008.
Former Pioneer’s
player Ray de Wit has been appointed as Senior
Coach. Ray is a former player of the Pioneers
Basketball Club, who was a favourite at the
“Icehouse” for his determination and competitive
spirit. Ray was best known for his commitment as a
team player who gave 100% effort at all times. Ray
always played to win and will expect his players to
provide a winning attitude and total commitment
whilst representing the club and importantly our
region at all times.
Ray is determined to
achieve success both on and off the court. The team
will have a strong focus on developing a winning
culture, playing with passion and commitment and
promoting our sponsors throughout the year with
pride.
2008 will bring an
exciting new look to the PIONEERS…
Some Facts about SEABL
“Australia’s Premier
Winter Basketball League”
The South East
Australian Basketball League (SEABL) is Australia’s
largest interstate sporting competition, and has
developed some of Australia’s greatest ever
basketballers, including Andrew Gaze, Luc Longley,
Shane Heal, Andrew Bogut, Lauren Jackson, Penny
Taylor and in 2007, future superstar Patrick Mills.
The 15 SEABL clubs are
the pinnacles of their Junior and Senior
Associations. SEABL provides an elite competition
for Male and Female teams from major cities and
regional centre's around the Eastern Seaboard of
Australia. In 2008 the SEABL competition will
stretch from Brisbane in the North to Hobart in the
South and Mount Gambier in the West. The structure
will provide increased benefits for stakeholders in
the League, with a strong brand representation
throughout each Club, from the elite to the grass
roots competitions.
SEABL will again be
uniquely positioned as Australia’s premier winter
basketball league. It will be marketed as an elite
level basketball league on an interstate club basis
for both Men and Women – attracting all
demographics.
